I like your approach of letting your children know that Santa is not real. If we have children, then we do not plan to tell them that something is real when we know it’s not. This issue bothers my mother who says, “You’re only a kid once.” Well it’s the parents’ choice and not telling them that Santa is real does not set children up to be unreasonably disappointed about high expectations of a lie told to them by the people they trust the most.

Bynum family, I like to check your blog every now and then to see what is going on in your lives, and I just wanted to say how sorry I am that you have had to go through this. Thank you so much for sharing this. I haven’t read your blog in awhile, and I just happened to pull it up the morning after you wrote this… apparently God was telling me I needed to look at it. We will continue to pray for you guys. I know it is so hard to trust that He has a plan when you don’t understand it; but He does, and His plan is better than ours. We love you guys!
